Autumn's my favorite season, perhaps due to the brilliant colors and the cool breezes and the sounds of the leaves shivering, causing us all to cozy up with one another a bit more. In honor of starting my blog, I found a poem by Joyce Kilmer, called Trees.
I think that I shall never see
A poem lovely as a tree.
A tree whose hungry mouth is pressed
Against the earth's sweet flowing breast;
A tree that looks at God all day
And lifts her leafy arms to pray;
A tree that may in summer wear
A nest of robins in her hair;
Upon whose bosom snow has lain;
Who intimately lives with rain.
Poems are made by fools like me,
But only God can make a tree.
Enjoy the fleeting color whilst you have it, before the coming snow blankets. I hear the distant chimes swinging in the branches outside my window. Soon, I will warm up a pot of apple cider...
